E! News host quits over reported 50 percent pay gap with male co-host

If you’re a pop culture junkie, you’re likely familiar with Catt Sadler.

The 43-year-old TV host has been a staple for more than a decade at the E! Entertainment television network, most recently hosting the daily afternoon show “Daily Pop” as well as “E! News.” It was her dream job. But when the network refused to compensate her to match her male counterpart, Jason Kennedy, she quit.

In a statement, Sadler admitted she was intimidated to leave the network, but felt inspired by the countless women who came forward to speak their truth in the past year. “But how can I operate with integrity and stay on E if they’re not willing to pay me the same as him? Or at least come close? How can I accept an offer that shows they do not value my contributions and paralleled hard work all these years?” her statement further said.

Sadler hosted seven shows a week for the network, compared to Kennedy’s five, and both hired in 2006.

Yet, Us Weekly reports Sadler earned $600,000 per year compared to Kennedy’s possible earning of $1.2 million. The salaries were never confirmed, but told to Us Weekly by an unnamed source from the network.

Kennedy has not commented on the news of the pay gap and has been getting a lot of backlash for it. Sadler made social media posts encouraging people to not blame her friend, Kennedy, but the decision makers in the process.

Jennifer Lawrence took to social media to support Sadler.

So did Jessica Chastain.

An E! spokesperson told the New York Times the roles of Sadler and Kennedy were not comparable.

Gerard Butler spills the tea on who’s a better kisser: Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie

Published

The world will clearly never forget when Brad Pitt left Jennifer Aniston for Angelina Jolie, forcing everyone and their mother to be either Team Aniston or Team Jolie. Leave it to Andy Cohen, however, to make someone pick a side. On Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live,” Cohen forced guest Gerard Butler, who has kissed both Aniston and Jolie on screen, to reveal the better kisser between the two.

Butler, who was on promoting his new movie, “Den of Thieves” had to answer. The question was during a game of Plead the Fifth, where guests are asked three questions and only allowed to leave one unanswered. Since he pleaded the Fifth to the first question, which asked him to name a movie role he accepted strictly for the paycheck, Butler had no choice but to spill the tea.

His answer: Jennifer Aniston.

TV Host Shames Sexual Misconduct Accuser on LIVE TV

Published

The #MeToo and #TimesUp campaigns are getting complicated. As more victims are speaking up and sounding off against sexual offenders, a new territory is being entered — a slippery-sloped terrain demanding critical conversations that challenge the definition of sexual assault.

Most recently, actor Aziz Ansari, known for “Parks & Recreation” and the current Netflix hit “Master of None,” has been the subject of sexual misconduct claims. An anonymous woman who went by the name “Grace” claims she felt forced to sleep with the comedic actor after he didn’t pick up on her non-verbal cues.

The 23-year-old woman, who is a photographer, exclusively told babe.net that she went on a date with Ansari last September.

The story, titled: “I went on a date with Aziz Ansari. It turned into the worst night of my life” is triggering mixed responses because Grace* described a bad date, regret and showed text messages proving Ansari was respectful, apologetic and remorseful when he learned the woman felt uncomfortable.

One person who questioned Grace’s* motives and experience is HLN’s Ashleigh Banfield, host of “Crime and Justice with Ashleigh Banfield,”who basically shamed the woman while reading an open letter to her on her Monday (January 15) broadcast. Banfield boldly declared the woman endangered the progress of the #MeeToo movement.

Watch for yourself:

The question now: Did Banfield go too far? Or, is it about time someone questions an accuser before ending someone’s career?
